All about luggage

The number 1 question what do you take for luggage? Only you can decide how much you want to carry.

Asia- When travelling Asia we both took hand luggage only! We bought 2 IT lightweight luggage bag packs on sale from a closing down website we paid £15 each. The bags were cabin size which was perfect for us, taking hand luggage only can save you a lot of money as you do not pay any extra luggage check in fees. I highly recommend taking hand luggage only if travelling Asia mainly because you will be travelling on flights most of the time and this will save you a lot of money. So how do you actually go hand luggage only? Plan your outfits! You can fit a lot in a cabin size bag and most airlines weight limit is 10kg. I use packing cubes to fit in all my clothes there so spacious and keep your bag tidy it’s also easier to keep your clothes organised. I have another post called (handy tips) where I have posted a photo of the exact packing cubes I use.

Europe – This year I decided I wanted to take more luggage and the only reason for this is because out of my entire journey I am only travelling on 4 flights. Travelling Europe is mainly by bus or train which means your ticket includes 30kg luggage!! The flights I am paying luggage check in fees are £19 each so that’s £76 extra but I’m happy to pay that for 3 months worth of luggage. (You could 100% do Europe with cabin bags only, I just choose not to) I have added a photo below of my current luggage it was raining so that’s why there’s little water spots on my bag. The pink case is cabin size and has 4 wheels so it’s so easy to walk with, the small black bag is also my cabin bag (it never ever gets weighed) the larger blue bag is obviously my check in bag and I love this bag il explain why below.

The pink 4 wheel case I paid £20 I bought it in a little luggage store however I’m sure primark have the exact same ones for £20-£25 it also has a handy little luggage lock at the side you just pop in a 4 digit code and your good to go. The small black bag is from primark it was £8 (its perfect you can keep everything u need in it and I also use it to keep my food, drinks and suncream in when touring)

Now the check in blue bag! I love this bag because of its compartments. The bottom part I use for my shoes only (perfect because it keeps your dirty shoes away from your clothes) the side compartments you can fit whatever u like inside. I have really bad eyesight and wear daily contacts so I have 6 months worth of daily contacts inside which is actually quite a lot so I’m thankful they all fit nicely inside. In the larger compartment I have 3 packing cubes filled to the brim, 2 jackets, pjs and running clothes (again grateful it all fits in) another reason I love this bag is because it has comfortable padded straps for round you waist and also 2 poles along the back of the bag to keep it steady and straight. The poles holding the bag up make it more comfortable and easier to carry, it also has really comfortable shoulder pads which is a must. I bought this bag from go outdoors for £20 the exact name of it is HI-GEAR Nepal 65 Rucksack, with go outdoors you will only get it for the cheaper price if you buy a £5 go outdoors card which you can purchase in store when you get to the check out counter (your whole family can use it it’s worth it) go outdoors also have really cheap Lightweight jackets and cheap comfortable zippers we paid £10 for 2 fleece zippers.

Travelling bags can be expensive but in my opinion that’s really only if you want them to be, you do not need a high brand fancy rucksack to go bag packing just ensure you buy one with padded shoulder pads and a waist strap for comfort and safety.
